She received a BA in English and creative writing from Antioch college, a BS in Psychology from Denver University and is in the process of completing her Death Doula certification.
Kate is a longtime meditation practitioner and is grateful for life work so compatible. Showing up for others in this acute phase of their life she feels is much like meditation, demanding radical wakefulness and presence.

Emily has worked and volunteered in the mental health and elder care fields since 2006. She holds BA degrees in Sociology and Photography from Purdue University, and her MA in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. She is a mama to two young children, and is honored beyond measure to get to work with such a wide spectrum of the human experience!

One of his classes was The Psychology of Aging where he and several classmates, along with their brilliant instructor, Vicki Howard, created a Windhorse-style team and supported an elder through their passing. Jamie has held many positions within the Windhorse model over the past 37 years including as an original community member of Windhorse Community Services, Windhorse Elder Care and The Windhorse Guild. He administrated and taught in Naropa’s Gerontology and Long-Term Care Management Program and the Contemplative Psychotherapy Program where he also served as Chair.
Jamie and his wife Kathy also supported their wonderful parents through their elder years and passing days.

Ken Schmeelk
Since completing a Masters in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa Institute in ’88, Ken has worked in several Human Service Agencies in the Boulder area. Working with Windhorse has been an ideal experience because of its practice of putting the relationship between the care provider and the client at the heart of care. He appreciates how communication and mindfulness are prioritized to the clients here, as well as within our community itself.
The opportunity to be of service to Elders is especially poignant for Ken as he has begun his own journey into Elderhood, and finds there is much to learn from those with whom he works. Ken has lived in Boulder with his remarkable wife, Lissa, for many years, sharing the beauty of the surrounding mountainous terrain and trails. He enjoys working with visual imagery and has long been a student of contemplative traditions.
