Family and Elder Counseling
Family and Elder Counseling, the counseling branch of Windhorse Elder Care, offers compassionate support through mindfulness-based individual and group therapy. We specialize in working with elders, their caregivers, and family members in their homes (wherever home may be,) in our office, in nature, and online.
Through our therapeutic partnership, we empower you and your loved ones to navigate the complexities of transitioning into assisted living, cope with terminal diagnoses, find balance in caregiving, process grief and loss, and embrace the aging or dying process with grace and dignity. We recognize and understand the overwhelm that often accompanies supporting a loved one through these changes. We provide a mindful and non-judgmental environment where you can freely express yourself, gain insights, and develop practical coping strategies. We also believe in the power of collaborative and culturally relevant ceremonies and rituals as a way to honor and process transitions.
At Windhorse Elder Care, we understand the unique emotional and psychological complexities that arise during these pivotal moments. Our dedicated therapists specialize in providing personalized care to individuals and families facing these circumstances and offering a safe and empathetic space to explore these thoughts, emotions, and concerns. We tailor our therapy approach to meet your specific needs, integrating evidence-based techniques including EMDR, IFS, and somatic therapy to address grief, loss, anxiety, depression, and other emotional struggles. Our goal is to support you and your loved ones in finding resilience, strength, and a renewed sense of purpose as you navigate these challenging chapters of life.
You don’t have to face these challenges alone. Our therapists are committed to accompanying you on this journey, providing the support and tools needed to navigate the emotional landscape with resilience and inner peace. Callie Maron (she/her), MA, LPC
Callie is passionate about helping clients discover their own inherent wisdom, creativity, and resilience, and find a sense of belonging and clarity in themselves, their communities, and the Earth. Her years of experience working with nature, sitting with elders and their loved ones through the end-of-life process, and the sometimes challenging time leading up to this transition, have humbled her into a groundedness in the human experience that she believes we can all return to. As you journey together in a safe and compassionate therapeutic space, you can explore, understand, and send love to your vulnerabilities, fears, sources of shame, and the shadowy corners that benefit from a grounded companion to tread through.
In sessions, whether in the client’s home, the office, a natural setting, or online, she offers practical skills and knowledge informed by neuroscience interwoven with evidence-based therapeutic approaches rooted in Internal Family Systems, attachment theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy while maintaining a collaborative and mindful presence, and connection with our somatic experiences in the present moment.

Kristina Benson (she/her), MA, LPCC
I work with people navigating major life changes, grappling with a painful loss, or longing to understand their emotions and sensations. I can help you tend to your relationships and develop healthier communication skills. I provide support through steady, calm, and attuned connection. I will take time to hear your story and fully understand your intentions so that we can focus on what is most important to you. My work stems from an understanding that our minds and bodies are inherently intertwined and that we must form a symbiotic relationship between them. As a nature-based therapist, I invite sensory awareness, mindfulness, and creative experiments into sessions. I am also trained in EMDR therapy – an incredibly impactful, evidence-based method for reprocessing traumatic experiences. My approach also utilizes somatic therapy, attachment theory, ecopsychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and non-violent communication. I have a special affinity for supporting those who identify as Empaths or Highly Sensitive People (HSPs). I believe that asking for help is courageous, and I consider it a privilege to be able to engage in this work together.
